Privacy Policy

StackSounder (“StackSounder,” “we,” “us”) runs a website with a free cost-and-margin simulator and a form to request a free scoping call. This Privacy Policy covers that website: what it collects, why, how long we keep it, and the small set of providers involved.

The numbers you enter in the simulator describe a hypothetical model, not your real accounts or business data. The simulator runs in your browser against our own reference data. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers anywhere on the site.

1. Information we collect

a. When you use the simulator

• An anonymous session. A first-party, signed cookie carries a random session identifier. It holds no personal information and is not tied to your identity unless you later book a call.
• What you do in the simulator. Which controls you interact with and the configuration you build (scenario values, toggles, and inputs), so we can learn which parts people find useful. These values model a hypothetical product; we do not ask for your real business data here.
• Basic technical context. The page that referred you and your browser’s user-agent string, each truncated. We do not store your IP address.

b. When you request a scoping call

• The email address you provide (required), plus your name and website if you choose to give them.
• If you used the simulator before booking, we link your email to that anonymous session so we can see the path that led to your request.

2. How we use your information

• Run the simulator and keep it working.
• Understand which parts of the demo resonate, so we can improve it.
• Reply to your scoping-call request and arrange a call.
• Comply with applicable law and protect the security and integrity of the website.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use third-party advertising trackers. The simulator and the scoping call are free; we do not collect payment information on this website.

3. Service providers we share data with

We rely on a small number of providers to run the website. Each receives only the data needed to deliver its part of the service:

• A hosting and edge-delivery provider that serves the website, terminates TLS, and handles routing.
• A managed database provider that stores the anonymous simulator sessions and the scoping-call requests you submit.

Beyond these providers, we share personal information only when required by law, when necessary to protect the rights and safety of users or the public, or in connection with a corporate transaction (merger, acquisition, sale of assets). You will be notified before your information is transferred to a successor with a different privacy policy.

4. Data retention

• Anonymous simulator sessions and the interaction records tied to them are kept as part of our product-research record. They are not linked to your identity.
• Scoping-call requests (your email, and any name and website) are kept while we are in contact about your request and for as long as we have a legitimate business need to retain them.
• You can ask us to delete your scoping-call request at any time by emailing founder@stacksounder.com. We will delete it within thirty (30) days.

5. Your rights

You may request to access, correct, export, or delete the personal information you have given us by emailing founder@stacksounder.com. Depending on where you live, you may also have additional rights under the GDPR, CCPA, or other applicable privacy laws, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing. We will honor those rights as required by law.

6. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including TLS for data in transit, encryption at rest where our providers offer it, scoped database access, and least-privilege access for personnel. No system is perfectly secure; if you have a concern, please contact us.

7. Children’s privacy

StackSounder is a tool for businesses and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. International users

StackSounder operates from the United States. If you use the website from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and in any country in which our providers operate.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the website after the effective date of an update constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
